Treatment Summary
A practitioner-led weight management programme combining clinical assessment, ongoing review and prescription pharmacotherapy where clinically appropriate (typically GLP-1 receptor agonists). This is a medical service, not a lifestyle product. Eligibility requires a thorough assessment of BMI, medical history, current medications and goals, and continued participation requires ongoing clinical review. The programme is designed to support — not replace — sustained nutritional and activity change.
Also known as: GLP-1 weight loss · medical weight management · weight loss injection · semaglutide programme · Mounjaro programme · Wegovy alternative
Key Benefits
Practitioner-Led Throughout
Clinical assessment, prescribing and review by a qualified prescriber.
Lifestyle Foundation
Pharmacotherapy supports — never replaces — nutritional and activity change.
Eligibility Honestly Set
We assess BMI, history and goals; we decline where treatment isn't appropriate.
Ongoing Review
Regular follow-up to monitor progress, side effects and dose.
A medical service, not a lifestyle product
Weight loss medication has, for understandable reasons, become a topic of high public interest. It has also been over-marketed and under-supervised in places, with online operators prescribing GLP-1 medications based on a quick form and minimal follow-up. We do not run that kind of service.
Our weight-loss programme is practitioner-led, assessment-based and review-based. It exists to support eligible adults whose medical picture justifies pharmacotherapy and who are ready to engage with sustained nutritional and activity change. If your BMI is in the healthy range and your goal is cosmetic weight loss, we will say honestly that this is not the right treatment for you — and we won't be offended if you'd rather we'd said yes.
Who is eligible
Eligibility for pharmacotherapy follows clinical guidance, typically:
- BMI ≥30, or
- BMI ≥27 with a weight-related condition (type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea).
It is not appropriate during pregnancy or planning pregnancy in the near term, in active eating disorders, in those with a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2, in severe gastroparesis or pancreatitis history, and where realistic engagement with ongoing review is not possible.
How the programme works
After an initial 30–45 minute medical consultation — covering history, medications, goals, baseline bloodwork where indicated — we agree a plan. Where pharmacotherapy is appropriate, we prescribe a starting dose, schedule the dose escalation, demonstrate injection technique and provide written nutrition and lifestyle guidance.
Subsequent reviews track weight, side effects, tolerance and progress. Prescriptions are issued only with review — we will not refill indefinitely without seeing you. This is for your safety.
Honest expectations
Trial evidence for GLP-1 medications is impressive: clinically meaningful weight loss of 10–20% of total body weight over 12 months on average, alongside lifestyle intervention. Individual response varies widely. Side effects — nausea, reduced appetite, constipation — are common, particularly during dose escalation, and most settle. Serious side effects are rare but real, and we brief you fully.
Most importantly: what happens when you stop matters more than what happens while you're on the medication. Weight regain is common after discontinuation if lifestyle change hasn't been embedded. The medication makes change easier; it cannot sustain it for you. We talk about exit strategy from the first appointment, not at the end.
Why this isn't an online form
The cost of the programme reflects clinical assessment, supervision and review — not the medication alone. We think anyone offering GLP-1 medications without that supervision is taking shortcuts that aren't in their patients' interest. If we don't think it's right for you, we'll say so.
What to Expect
- 1
Initial Assessment
Detailed medical history, BMI calculation, current medications and goals review. We will say honestly if pharmacotherapy is not the right answer for you.
- 2
Plan & Prescribe
Where eligible, a personalised plan is agreed including starting dose, escalation schedule, lifestyle support and what to expect from side effects.
- 3
Initiation & Education
Injection technique demonstration, written guidance on nutrition while on treatment, and clear instructions on what side effects warrant contact.
- 4
Ongoing Review
Regular review appointments to track weight, assess tolerance, adjust dose and continue prescription only while it remains clinically appropriate.
Suitability
Aesthetic care is highly individual. The points below are general guidance — final suitability for weight loss treatment is always confirmed in your consultation.
Often suitable for
- Adults with BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with weight-related comorbidity
- Clients ready to engage with sustained nutritional and activity change
- Plateaued weight loss despite genuine lifestyle effort
- Pre-surgical or post-surgical weight optimisation in selected cases
- Those wanting medical supervision rather than online prescribing without review
May not be suitable if
- BMI in the healthy range — pharmacotherapy is not appropriate for cosmetic weight loss
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy in the near term
- History of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2
- Active eating disorder, severe gastroparesis or pancreatitis history
- Those unwilling to attend ongoing review appointments
Aftercare
Caring for your results
A few simple steps in the first 24–48 hours help your results settle as expected.
- Inject as directed on the same day each week
- Eat small, regular, protein-led meals; reduce alcohol and ultra-processed food
- Stay hydrated and prioritise fibre to limit constipation
- Contact us promptly for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting or signs of pancreatitis
- Attend scheduled review appointments — prescriptions continue only with review
- Plan to maintain lifestyle change through and beyond the medicated phase
Evidence & Standards
GLP-1 receptor agonists (such as semaglutide and tirzepatide) have substantial randomised trial evidence for clinically meaningful weight loss when combined with lifestyle intervention in eligible adults. Their effects depend on continued use and on lifestyle change continuing during and after treatment; weight regain after discontinuation is well documented when lifestyle change has not been sustained.
