Miscellaneous and Consultation

Overview

Understanding Miscellaneous and Consultation

This category covers two foundational services that underpin every aesthetic treatment we offer: the consultation itself, and dental block anaesthesia for clients who want enhanced comfort during lip and lower-face injectable treatments. Neither is a 'product' — both are about delivering aesthetic medicine the way we believe it should be delivered: unhurried, informed, comfortable.

Unhurried Time

Consultations are 30+ minutes. We don't rush, we don't sell, we listen.

Written Plan

Every consultation produces a written plan with options, downtime and pricing.

Comfort Options

Topical, ice, vibration, dental block — we use whatever helps.

No Pressure

We do not treat on the same day as a first consultation by default.

Who It's For

Is this category right for you?

The clients who benefit most from miscellaneous and consultation typically share one or more of these goals.

  • First-time aesthetic clients exploring options
  • Clients reviewing previous treatment from elsewhere
  • Pre-treatment planning sessions where multiple options need weighing
  • Clients with strong needle anxiety wanting maximum comfort
  • Lip filler and lip flip clients who would benefit from full numbing
  • Clients with low pain threshold or previous uncomfortable experiences

Consultation: the part of aesthetic medicine that gets undervalued

A good consultation does not feel like a sales appointment. It feels like a conversation with a clinician who is genuinely interested in what you want to change, why, and whether the route you are considering is the right one.

At Aesthetic Clinique, every consultation is unhurried, private and entirely without pressure. We:

  • Take a full medical history (medications, allergies, prior aesthetic and surgical work, lifestyle factors).
  • Examine the relevant area at rest and in animation.
  • Listen to what you want to change and what is driving it.
  • Discuss realistic options, including alternatives and the option of not treating.
  • Provide a written plan with each step, downtime, expected results and the fee.
  • Send you home to think about it, where appropriate.

We are happy to consult and never see you again if that is what your decision turns out to be. The consultation fee covers the clinical time, and is redeemable against any treatment you book on the day or within 60 days — but it is not contingent on you booking anything.

Dental block anaesthesia

For clients who would feel more comfortable with deeper numbing during lip or lower-face treatment, we offer dental block anaesthesia as an add-on option. It uses a small injection of local anaesthetic to fully numb the area — the same technique your dentist uses — producing more reliable comfort than topical cream alone for those who want or need it.

Most clients having lip filler do not need a dental block. Topical anaesthetic and good technique are usually enough. The clients who do benefit most are those with strong needle anxiety, low pain tolerance, or more advanced lip work that takes longer.

We will discuss it as an option at consultation rather than upselling it as a default.

When 'consultation' is the whole appointment

Some clients book in expecting treatment and leave with only a plan. Some clients book a consultation alone and never proceed to treatment — having decided that nothing was the right answer, or that the timing isn't right.

Both outcomes are good outcomes when they reflect a real, considered decision rather than a sale. We measure consultations by how well-informed you leave them, not by whether you book.

FAQs

Miscellaneous and Consultation — questions we are asked most

Is the consultation fee redeemable?

Yes — the consultation fee is redeemable against any treatment booked on the day or within 60 days. If you decide not to proceed (which is fine), the fee covers the clinical time spent.

What happens at a first consultation?

A private 30-minute appointment with a qualified clinician. We review your medical history, examine the relevant area, listen to your goals and discuss realistic options — including doing nothing, or starting with something smaller than you arrived asking for. You leave with a clear, written plan and the time to decide at home.

Do you treat on the day of a first consultation?

Not by default. We believe you should have time to consider a written plan before deciding. For follow-up appointments, returning clients and certain low-risk treatments, same-visit treatment is available. Your clinician will discuss what is appropriate.

What is dental block anaesthesia?

Dental block uses a small injection of local anaesthetic to fully numb part of the lip and lower face — the same technique a dentist uses for upper or lower-jaw work. It produces deeper numbness than topical cream alone and is offered as an option for lip filler, lip flip and lower-face treatments where comfort is a priority.

Who benefits most from a dental block?

Clients with strong needle anxiety, low pain tolerance, previous uncomfortable lip filler experiences, or those having a larger or more advanced lip treatment. It is not necessary for most lip filler — topical anaesthetic is sufficient for many — but it is available for anyone who would feel calmer with full numbing.

Are there downsides to dental block?

The block injection itself is briefly uncomfortable. Numbness lasts 1–3 hours after the appointment, which means you should not eat or drink hot fluids during that time (risk of biting the lip or scalding). Otherwise, no significant downsides for selected clients.
