Facial PRP
Platelet-rich plasma using your own blood to drive regenerative skin response.
Duration

Treatment Summary
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, separated and concentrated to isolate the platelet-rich layer that contains regenerative growth factors. It is then delivered into the skin via micro-injections, microneedling channels or scalp injections. PRP suits clients seeking a regenerative approach using their own biology rather than synthetic injectables.
Also known as: PRP facial · vampire facial · platelet-rich plasma · PRP hair loss · PRP scalp injection
Key Benefits
Uses Your Own Biology
Autologous — derived from your own blood — with no synthetic active ingredient.
Regenerative Growth Factors
Concentrated platelet growth factors support fibroblast activation and tissue repair.
Strong with Microneedling
Combination protocols are among the best-evidenced uses of PRP for skin quality and scarring.
Useful for Hair Thinning
Scalp PRP is widely used as part of structured early-stage hair thinning programmes.
What PRP is
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated fraction of your own blood, prepared by centrifugation. The platelets it contains are the cells that drive the body's natural wound-healing response, releasing growth factors that signal fibroblasts to activate and tissues to repair. PRP has been used in orthopaedics, dentistry and surgery for decades; in aesthetic medicine, it has found a particular niche in skin regeneration and early-stage hair thinning.
It is autologous — your own biology — which is why it is sometimes preferred by clients who want a regenerative approach without synthetic injectables.
How the treatment works
A small blood sample is drawn (10–20 ml, similar to a routine blood test). The sample is processed in a CE-marked PRP kit using a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from red and white cells. The PRP is then applied to your skin or scalp, depending on the protocol:
- Vampire facial — PRP applied during and after a medical microneedling session, absorbed through the microchannels
- PRP injection — direct micro-injection of PRP into target areas
- Scalp PRP — multiple injections into the scalp for early-stage hair thinning
What PRP is good for
The strongest evidence in aesthetic medicine supports two indications: microneedling combined with PRP for acne scarring and skin quality, and PRP for early-stage androgenetic hair thinning. Both are course-based and require commitment. Other claimed indications — under-eye dark circles, generalised facial rejuvenation alone — have weaker evidence and we discuss this honestly rather than overpromising.
Who suits the treatment
PRP suits clients in their 30s to 60s with concerns around skin quality, post-acne marking, or early-stage hair loss, who specifically prefer an autologous approach. It is not appropriate in active blood disorders, on anticoagulant therapy without medical clearance, in active local infection, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
We are also honest about expectations: PRP does not reverse advanced volume loss, does not regrow hair on a fully bald scalp, and is not a single-session miracle. It is one tool among several, and often it is the right tool — but not always.
What happens on the day
After consultation and blood draw, the sample is centrifuged in clinic (around 10 minutes). Meanwhile, your skin is cleansed and topical anaesthetic applied if needed. Application takes 30–45 minutes depending on protocol — vampire facials longer because of the microneedling pass, scalp PRP shorter but more uncomfortable.
Recovery
Skin will be pink and sensitive for 24–48 hours after a vampire facial. After scalp PRP, the scalp may feel tender and slightly swollen for a day. Bruising at injection points is possible. You can return to work the next day; we just ask that you avoid washing the area for 6–24 hours and avoid saunas and direct sun for a week.
Course and maintenance
For skin: typically 3 sessions, 4 weeks apart, with maintenance every 6–12 months. For hair: 3–4 monthly sessions as a loading course, with maintenance every 3–6 months. Hair-loss treatment is a commitment of months, not weeks; we will plan that with you honestly rather than overpromising a quick result.

Blood is processed in a CE-marked PRP kit to separate the platelet-rich plasma layer.
- 4
Application
PRP is applied via microneedling, micro-injection or scalp injection depending on the protocol.
Suitability
Aesthetic care is highly individual. The points below are general guidance — final suitability for facial prp is always confirmed in your consultation.
Often suitable for
- Tired, dull or early-ageing skin seeking a regenerative approach
- Acne scarring and post-inflammatory marks (combined with microneedling)
- Early-stage hair thinning (androgenetic, in suitable candidates)
- Clients preferring autologous treatments over synthetic injectables
- Maintenance after a microneedling or peel course
May not be suitable if
- Active blood disorders, low platelet count or anticoagulant therapy without medical clearance
- Active skin or scalp infection in the treatment area
- Recent steroid injection or systemic steroid therapy
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- History of certain blood-borne or autoimmune conditions (assessed individually)
Aftercare
Caring for your results
A few simple steps in the first 24–48 hours help your results settle as expected.
- Skin will be pink and sensitive for 24–48 hours
- Avoid washing the face for 6 hours after a vampire facial; up to 24 hours after scalp PRP
- Avoid retinoids, acids and exfoliants for 5 days
- Mineral SPF every day; avoid direct sun and saunas for 1 week
- Bruising at injection points is possible — plan around social events
Treatment Areas

- Neck
- Décolletage
- Scalp
- Under-Eye Area
PRP has decades of clinical use in orthopaedics and dentistry. In aesthetic medicine, the strongest evidence is for combination with microneedling for acne scarring and skin quality, and for early-stage androgenetic hair thinning. CE-marked PRP kits ensure standardised, sterile preparation. We are honest that evidence quality varies by indication and discuss this individually rather than overstating any single application.
