Tear Trough

Overview

Understanding Tear Trough

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, refine facial contours and rebalance proportions. We use only medical-grade, MHRA-regulated hyaluronic-acid (HA) products from established manufacturers — chosen because they are biocompatible, predictable in behaviour, and fully reversible with hyaluronidase if required. Our entire approach is built on restraint: we dose conservatively, place precisely, and prioritise long-term facial harmony over short-term volume.

Conservative Dosing

We use the smallest effective volume — never the most that fits. Less filler ages better.

Reversible Results

Hyaluronic-acid filler can be partially or fully dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.

Tailored Placement

Treatment is planned to your face, anatomy and ageing pattern — not a template.

Regulated Products

Only MHRA-grade, clinically proven HA filler ranges from manufacturers we trust.

Who It's For

Is this category right for you?

The clients who benefit most from tear trough typically share one or more of these goals.

  • Adding subtle definition or volume to the lips
  • Restoring mid-face volume in cheeks or temples
  • Defining the chin, jawline or profile
  • Softening tear-trough hollowing or under-eye shadows
  • Smoothing nasolabial folds or marionette lines
  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty for minor nose concerns

What dermal filler can — and can't — do

Dermal filler is a tool for volume restoration and contour refinement. Used well, it softens age-related volume loss in the cheeks and temples, defines features such as the lips, chin and jawline, and balances small asymmetries. Used poorly — over-filled, badly placed, or repeated too often — it distorts proportions, migrates over time and ages the face rather than refreshing it.

The right candidate for filler is rarely the person who wants the most. It is the person whose specific concern is best matched to a small, precise, well-placed dose — and who is willing to wait, review, and add later if needed.

How we approach a filler treatment

Every filler plan at Aesthetic Clinique starts with a private consultation. We assess your face at rest and in animation, review your medical history, and discuss what you want to change. Where filler is the right tool, we plan the smallest effective treatment — sometimes a single area, sometimes none — and we always prefer to review and add rather than treat in maximum volume up front.

Before treatment we explain expected outcomes, downtime, common side effects and known risks in writing. You sign an informed-consent form for every treatment, and we follow strict protocols for skin antisepsis, single-use needles and clinical injection technique.

Common areas we treat

  • Lip filler — definition, hydration and shape rather than volume.
  • Cheek filler — restoring mid-face volume and supporting the lower face.
  • Chin and jawline filler — defining the profile, projecting the chin, sharpening the jaw.
  • Tear-trough filler — softening under-eye hollowing in suitable candidates.
  • Nasolabial and marionette folds — softening static lines without flattening expression.
  • Temple, perioral and neck-line filler — refined targeted work for specific concerns.
  • Liquid rhinoplasty — non-surgical refinement of the nose for selected cases.

After your treatment

You will receive written aftercare instructions and a follow-up review (typically two weeks after treatment) where we assess settling and make minor adjustments if clinically appropriate, included in your fee. Hyaluronic-acid filler can be partially or fully dissolved with hyaluronidase at any point if you change your mind, with a separate consultation.

If you are considering filler — for the first time, or after treatment elsewhere — we are happy to talk through realistic options without pressure. Sometimes the right next step is a single area. Sometimes it is none.

FAQs

Tear Trough — questions we are asked most

What are dermal fillers made of?

All filler used at Aesthetic Clinique is hyaluronic-acid based. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the skin that holds water and supports volume; the synthetic form used in filler is biocompatible and can be dissolved if required. We do not use permanent or semi-permanent silicone-based fillers.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Typically 6–18 months depending on the area treated, the product used and individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle. Lip filler tends to be at the shorter end (6–9 months); cheek, jawline and chin filler is usually 12–18 months. Your written plan will give a specific estimate.

Is filler treatment painful?

Most clients describe it as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. Most HA fillers contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic. We use topical numbing cream as standard, and dental block anaesthesia is available for lip and lower-face treatments where appropriate.

What is the downtime after dermal filler?

Mild redness, swelling and occasional bruising are normal for the first 24–72 hours. Most clients return to normal activities the same day. We recommend avoiding alcohol, intense exercise and facial treatments for 24–48 hours after treatment.

Can dermal filler be reversed?

Yes. Hyaluronic-acid filler can be partially or fully dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme injection. We treat dissolving with the same care as placement — see our dedicated hyaluronic acid dissolving category for detail.

Will I look 'done' or unnatural?

Not when treatment is dosed conservatively and placed correctly. Our entire approach prioritises subtle improvements that work with your features. If a request would compromise facial harmony or risk an overdone appearance, we will say so and recommend an alternative — including doing less than you arrived asking for.
