Chin Filler

Project the chin and rebalance the lower face — subtle, structural, considered.

Treatment Summary

Hyaluronic-acid chin filler placed on bone to improve chin projection, define the lower face and balance the profile. Often the most under-appreciated filler treatment: a small, well-placed dose of firm HA filler in the chin can do more for overall facial harmony — particularly the side profile — than treating any other single area. Fully reversible and MHRA-regulated.

Also known as: chin filler London · chin augmentation · non-surgical chin enhancement · profile balancing · chin projection filler

Key Benefits

Profile Definition

Improves chin projection and the overall side profile — often more transformative than expected.

Lower-Face Balance

A defined chin balances strong noses, full lips and a heavier jaw — restoring proportion.

Long-Lasting

Firm HA filler placed on bone in the chin typically lasts 12–18 months.

Reversible

Fully dissolvable with hyaluronidase if you change your mind or want a different result.

Why the chin matters more than people think

The chin is the structural anchor of the lower face. A chin that projects appropriately balances the nose, supports the lower lip, and defines the angle between the neck and the jawline. A subtly recessed chin — extremely common, often unnoticed — makes the nose look larger, the lower face look heavier, and the side profile look softer than it actually is.

Of all the dermal-filler treatments we offer, a small, well-placed dose of chin filler is one of the most transformative for the side profile — and one of the most often recommended at consultation when clients have arrived asking for something else.

What chin filler can — and can't — do

Chin filler is structural volume, placed on the bone of the chin to project it forward or extend it downward. Used well, it improves the profile, balances the nose and lips, and supports the lower face. It cannot correct severe chin recession, fix issues caused by an underlying bite or jaw misalignment, or deliver the dramatic angular masculinisation that can only be achieved surgically. We will tell you in consultation when surgical assessment is the more honest route.

Who chin filler suits

Clients who benefit most are those with mild to moderate chin recession in profile, those balancing a prominent nose, those with a short lower face, and those who have already had cheek or lip filler and feel their lower face now looks unbalanced. Many clients arrive asking for nose filler and leave with chin filler instead — improving the profile by adding to the chin rather than reducing the nose.

On the day at Aesthetic Clinique

A chin appointment takes around 40 minutes. We mark the chin in profile, apply numbing, and place small boluses of firm HA filler directly onto the chin bone, usually with a blunt cannula. Treatment itself takes around 10 minutes. You will see results immediately, with a small amount of swelling for 24–48 hours and occasional tenderness on chewing for a couple of days.

Combinations and longevity

Chin filler combines particularly well with jawline filler — together they reshape the entire lower-face contour from the front and side. It also pairs well with marionette-line filler in clients whose downward mouth corners are part of the same lower-face problem. Maintenance is typically every 12–18 months. We always prefer to add a small top-up than redo a full treatment.

What to Expect

  1. 1

    Profile & Proportion Assessment

We assess the chin from the front, in profile and on animation. Treatment is planned in relation to nose, lips and jawline — not in isolation.

  2. 2

    Marking & Numbing

Specific entry points are marked. Topical anaesthetic is applied; for clients with a sensitive chin, mental nerve block anaesthesia is available.

  3. 3

    Deep Placement on Bone

Firm HA filler is placed supraperiosteally — directly on the chin bone — usually using a blunt cannula. Small boluses build forward projection or vertical length depending on the goal.

  4. 4

    Two-Week Review

We review settling, profile change and proportion at two weeks. Top-ups are dosed conservatively if needed.

Suitability

Aesthetic care is highly individual. The points below are general guidance — final suitability for chin filler is always confirmed in your consultation.

Often suitable for

  • Improving a recessed or weak chin profile
  • Balancing a prominent nose without nose treatment
  • Defining the lower face in clients with mid-face filler already done
  • Subtle chin lengthening in clients with a short lower face
  • Softening a deep mentolabial crease beneath the lower lip

May not be suitable if

  • Significantly recessed chins where surgical genioplasty is more appropriate
  • Underlying bite or jaw alignment issues that need orthodontic assessment
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active infection over the chin or lower face
  • Clients seeking dramatic, masculine 'sharp jaw' looks beyond what filler can deliver

Aftercare

Caring for your results

A few simple steps in the first 24–48 hours help your results settle as expected.

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the chin for 48 hours
  • Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol and very hot drinks for 24 hours
  • Sleep on your back for the first two nights
  • Avoid dental work for one week if possible
  • Mild bruising and tenderness for up to a week is normal
  • Mineral SPF, no facials and no saunas for 48 hours

Treatment Areas

  • Chin
  • Pre-Jowl
  • Mentolabial Sulcus

We use only MHRA-regulated hyaluronic-acid fillers — firmer products in the HA family specifically designed for supraperiosteal placement and structural projection. HA filler is fully reversible with hyaluronidase. For genuinely recessed chins where filler cannot deliver sufficient projection, we will refer for surgical opinion rather than overfilling.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much chin filler will I need?

Most chin treatments use 1–2ml. Larger structural changes may need 2–3ml staged across two sessions. Even very small amounts — 0.5ml — can meaningfully improve a profile when placed precisely. We dose conservatively first and review.

How long does chin filler last?

Chin filler typically lasts 12–18 months. Because the chin moves less than areas like the lips, and we use firmer HA products designed for structural placement on bone, longevity is at the upper end of HA filler ranges.

Will chin filler make my chin look bigger or pointed?

Not when planned with proportion in mind. Chin filler can extend forward (projection), downward (length) or both. We plan based on what your face needs — sometimes that means projection, sometimes length, sometimes neither, and sometimes we recommend not treating the chin at all and treating somewhere else.

Is chin filler the same as jawline filler?

No, but they often work together. Chin filler defines the front of the lower face; jawline filler defines the side and the angle behind the ear. Many clients benefit from both, but we will treat one in isolation if the other isn't needed.

Can chin filler replace surgical genioplasty?

For mild to moderate chin recession, yes — and reversibly. For significantly recessed chins, or chin issues caused by underlying jaw or bite problems, surgical assessment is more appropriate. We will say so in consultation rather than chase a result with filler.

Does chin filler hurt?

Most clients tolerate it well. Topical numbing is applied first and the HA filler contains lidocaine. The chin is a more sensitive area than the cheek, so cannula technique is preferred. For more sensitive clients, a mental nerve dental block is available.

Can I have chin filler at the same appointment as lip filler?

We generally prefer to stage them. Lip filler causes more swelling and mild bruising; treating both at the same visit makes assessment harder. Most clients see us for chin and lip filler at separate appointments two to four weeks apart.
