Treatment Summary

Hyaluronic-acid jawline filler placed on the mandibular bone to define the angle of the jaw, lengthen the visible jawline and support areas of pre-jowl volume loss. Treatment is planned to enhance — not exaggerate — the natural shape of your face, with masculinising or feminising placement decisions made in consultation. Firm MHRA-regulated HA filler, fully reversible with hyaluronidase.

Also known as: jaw filler London · jaw definition filler · mandibular angle filler · jaw contouring · non-surgical jawline sculpting

Key Benefits

Mandibular Angle Definition

Sharpens the angle of the jaw behind the ear — the most defining feature of a sculpted jawline.

Pre-Jowl Support

Restores volume in the dip in front of the jowl, creating a continuous, smooth jaw silhouette.

Tailored Masculine or Feminine Result

Square, angular placement masculinises; smoother, lifted placement feminises. Planned to your goal.

Long-Lasting & Reversible

Typically 12–18 months. Fully dissolvable with hyaluronidase if required.

What jawline filler is for

Jawline filler is structural definition — placement of firm HA filler along the mandibular bone to sharpen the jaw silhouette from the front and the side. The most effective placement is usually at the angle of the jaw (behind the ear) for definition, along the body of the mandible for continuous length, and in the pre-jowl sulcus to smooth out early descent in front of the jowl.

A defined jawline is one of the strongest indicators of a balanced lower face. Many clients who arrive asking about cheek filler or skin-tightening turn out to benefit more from a small, structural jawline treatment.

What it can't do

Jawline filler is a tool for definition, not for transformation. It cannot:

  • Lift significant skin laxity or fully correct established jowls — these are skin and tissue problems, not volume problems
  • Create dramatic, angular jaw shapes on faces whose bone structure does not support them
  • Replace surgical jaw contouring or orthognathic correction in clients with structural jaw issues

We will tell you when filler is the right tool, when masseter Botox is a better option (for wide, overactive jaw muscles), and when surgical or skin-tightening assessment is more honest.

Masculine vs feminine planning

Jawline shape is one of the most clearly gendered features of the face, and treatment planning differs accordingly. Masculinising placement emphasises a wide, square mandibular angle and a strong, straight body — common for male aesthetic clients and trans-masculine clients. Feminising placement emphasises a smoother, slightly lifted jaw line, with the angle more rounded and pre-jowl continuity prioritised. We discuss your goal explicitly in consultation and document it in your treatment plan.

On the day at Aesthetic Clinique

A jawline appointment takes around 40 minutes. We mark the angle, body and pre-jowl area, numb the skin, and place filler with a cannula in small structural boluses on bone. Treatment itself takes around 15 minutes. You leave with a written aftercare sheet and a two-week review booked.

Expect mild swelling for 48 hours, occasional bruising along the jaw line for up to a week, and tenderness on chewing for a couple of days. The result settles fully at around two weeks.

Longevity and combinations

Jawline filler typically lasts 12–18 months. It combines particularly well with chin filler for full lower-face proportion correction, and with masseter Botox for clients whose jaw appears wider than they would like at the muscle level. We will always tell you when adding a different treatment is more useful than adding more filler to the same area.

What to Expect

  1. 1

    Front and Profile Assessment

We assess jaw shape, mandibular angle, presence of early jowl descent and overall lower-face balance. Treatment is mapped front-on and in profile.

  2. 2

    Marking & Numbing

Entry points are marked at the angle of the jaw, body of the mandible and pre-jowl area. Topical numbing is applied; cannula technique reduces both bruising and vascular risk.

  3. 3

    Structural Filler Placement

Firm HA filler is placed on bone along the mandible — at the angle for definition, along the body for length, and in the pre-jowl sulcus for continuity. Most treatments use 2–4ml in total.

  4. 4

    Two-Week Review

We assess settling, symmetry and overall lower-face balance. Top-ups are added conservatively if appropriate, particularly for stronger masculinising results that may need staging.

Suitability

Aesthetic care is highly individual. The points below are general guidance — final suitability for jawline filler is always confirmed in your consultation.

Often suitable for

  • Defining a softer or undefined natural jawline
  • Restoring the smooth jaw line lost to early jowl descent
  • Masculinising the lower face for trans-masculine or male aesthetic clients
  • Feminising and lifting the jaw silhouette in female clients
  • Combining with chin filler for full lower-face proportion correction

May not be suitable if

  • Significant jowl descent that is primarily a skin-laxity problem
  • Clients seeking a dramatically square jaw beyond what their bone structure supports
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active infection over the lower face
  • Clients with underlying jaw or bite issues that need orthodontic assessment first

Aftercare

Caring for your results

A few simple steps in the first 24–48 hours help your results settle as expected.

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the jaw for 48 hours
  • Skip strenuous exercise, alcohol and saunas for 24–48 hours
  • Sleep on your back for the first two nights
  • Avoid dental work for a week if possible — dental blocks can displace recent filler
  • Expect mild bruising along the jaw for up to a week
  • Tenderness on chewing for 1–2 days is common and settles fully

Treatment Areas

  • Jawline
  • Mandibular Angle
  • Pre-Jowl
  • Mandibular Body

We use only MHRA-regulated, hyaluronic-acid fillers — firmer products specifically engineered for structural placement on the mandible. HA filler is fully reversible with hyaluronidase. We do not use permanent products in the jaw, which is a common cause of complications when treatment is performed at non-medical clinics.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much filler does the jawline need?

Most jawline treatments use 2–4ml in total — generally split between the mandibular angle, the body of the jaw and the pre-jowl area. Stronger masculinising results may use 4–6ml staged across two sessions. We dose conservatively first and review.

Will jawline filler give me a sharper, more defined look?

Yes, when your underlying bone structure supports it and the dose is appropriate. We cannot give a flat, narrow jaw a dramatically wide, square shape — that requires a much larger volume than is safe or aesthetic. We work with your bone structure rather than against it.

How long does jawline filler last?

Jawline filler typically lasts 12–18 months. Firmer HA products are used in this area, and the jaw moves less than the mid- and lower face, so longevity is good. Maintenance is usually every 12–18 months.

Can jawline filler help with jowls?

Mild jowl appearance — particularly the small dip in front of the jowl — responds well to filler placed in the pre-jowl sulcus, which restores a continuous jaw line. More significant jowl descent is a skin-laxity problem and is rarely improved meaningfully with filler alone. We will say so in consultation.

Is jawline filler painful?

Most clients tolerate it well. Topical numbing is applied, the filler contains lidocaine, and we use a blunt cannula where possible to reduce both pain and bruising. The angle of the jaw can be tender during placement; the rest of the jaw is generally comfortable.

Can I have jawline filler with masseter Botox?

Yes, and the two often complement each other. Masseter Botox slims a wide, overactive jaw muscle; jawline filler defines bone-level structure. We will discuss in consultation which combination — or whether either treatment alone — suits your goal.

Will jawline filler make my face look heavier?

Not when placed correctly. Jawline filler placed laterally at the angle and along the bone tends to lift, not weigh down. Filler placed too superficially or too far forward can. This is why placement plane and product choice matter as much as volume.
